The Kiosque Mobilité: Integrating young people and mobility

10/01/2022

"Mobility is a major obstacle to the professional integration and guidance of the younger generation".

The above observation of the territory diagnosis was launched in 2016 by Valenciennes Métropole. This study reveals three major issues: mobility, dropping out of school and the link to businesses. Linking these issues by presenting solutions in one place seems an interesting solution to such challenges.

The Kiosque Mobilité was created in 2017, initiated by Transalley, a technology park dedicated to sustainable mobility and transport. Contributing to the autonomy of young people through mobility while training and raising awareness of road safety and eco-mobility: this is the ambition of this device developed in favour of young people aged 13 to 30 in Valenciennes and the area. It is part of the “Accroche Active” project supported by Valenciennes Métropole and financed by the PIA program and the ANRU as part of the “innovative projects for youth” operation. It promotes the autonomy of its beneficiaries by offering them a quick solution but also by supporting them in the long term on mobility.

Four years later, the Kiosque Mobilité has raised awareness among more than 1,300 young people about road safety and eco-mobility, carried out 64 mobility diagnostics and made vehicles available for 29 people. Most of the workshops take place at the Transalley technology park, where the Gyrovia track and the Institute for Sustainable Mobility and Transport are located, emblematic facilities for the region and a stone throw from the MOBI-MIX future MaaS demonstrator.

The ambition of the Kiosque Mobilité is to be able to offer more than the possibility of going to the users' place of work or internship. The current challenge is to raise awareness of the sectors that are recruiting, especially those in the industry.

The Kiosque Mobilité in its current version is funded until June 2022. Its impact on the integration of young people has been confirmed over the years. As the need to support the mobility of young people is no longer to come, the challenge today is to continue the action of the Kiosque Mobilité by expanding it beyond the Valenciennes region.
